Botox To Reduce Wrinkles
What is Botox®?
BOTOX® is the only FDA-approved treatment to temporarily improve the appearance of both moderate to severe frown lines between the brows and crow’s feet lines in adults. It is also used to soften the horizontal lines on the forehead.
Is Botox® Safe?
BOTOX® is one of the most extensively studied medical aesthetic treatments and is approved for cosmetic use in 78 countries. BOTOX® has a record of experience that aesthetic specialists know and trust. And, the safety and efficacy of BOTOX® have been evaluated in both Allergan-sponsored clinical trials as well as in over 417 peer-reviewed articles in scientific and medical journals.
How Does Botox® Work?
BOTOX® targets the underlying cause of dynamic wrinkles, which are wrinkles that occur only when you are animating. Over the years, through the repeated muscle contractions from frowning, squinting, and raising your eyebrows, lines will develop. When you inject BOTOX® into the muscles that cause these movements, you are temporarily reducing the muscle activity. You will begin to notice a visible smoothing of your crow’s feet lines, frown lines between your brows, and the horizontal lines on your forehead.
When Should I See Results?
You may begin to notice results in as little as 24 to 48 hours, but it may take up to 2 weeks to take full effect.
How Long Does Botox® Last?
It varies from patient to patient, but on average, the treatment lasts for three months, but it may stretch for up to six months.
The Botox effects will begin to fade and facial features will gradually return to their former state. Maintenance treatments are necessary to keep the effect for long periods of time.
Does It Hurt?
Most patients describe a Botox injection feeling like a “pinch.”
Is There Any Downtime?
No. You may resume normal activities immediately. Vigorous exercise or lying flat may be restricted for a few hours following treatment. Many patients undergo Botox treatment during their lunch break and return to work after treatment.
Does Botox® Have Side Effects?
Every drug has side effects. Luckily, they tend to be minor, short-lived, and are NOT permanent. Some patients experience slight bruising and temporary swelling. You may treat any mild discomfort with Tylenol. However, most patients do not experience any side effects at all.
How Much Does It Cost?
Since each patient needs different amounts of BOTOX® depending on the numbers of areas being treated, the cost of a BOTOX® treatment varies. We recommend you come in for a cosmetic consultation so that we can provide you with an individualized treatment plan that is tailored to your specific needs, along with giving you the total cost for your BOTOX® treatment.
