What is a Skin Tag?

Skin tags are small growths that are connected to the skin by a stalk. They are usually found on the neck, chest, back, armpits, under the breasts, or in the groin area. These are areas where the skin tends to rub against itself, causing irritation. Skin tags are common in both women and men. Skin tags usually don’t cause any pain; however, they can become irritated if anything such as clothing or jewelry rubs on them.
Skin tags are completely harmless and do not pose a risk to your health. However, it’s normal to want them removed for cosmetic purposes and this is easily done with an in-office procedure.

What to Expect During Skin Tag Removal Treatment

Skin tags can be easily removed during an in-office appointment. The procedure is performed using a local anesthetic. Once the area is numbed, the tags can be removed using surgical scissors or cryotherapy. Once the treatment is complete, the area will be dressed – skin tag removal does not typically require stitches or downtime.

You can typically return to your normal daily schedule after skin tag removal.
