Yearly Skin Exams
The most dangerous skin cancer is the one you don't see coming. Skin cancer often starts silently — no pain, no warning, no drama. That's why a yearly skin exam is one of the most important tools in protecting your health.
At Biltmore Dermatology, we make it simple:
Why Annual Skin Checks Matter
Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the U.S. — and it's also one of the most treatable when caught early. A yearly full-body skin exam allows us to:
- Detect skin cancer before it grows or spreads
- Spot pre-cancerous lesions (like actinic keratoses) and treat them early
- Track changes in moles, growths, or new lesions
- Give you peace of mind — or a plan, if something's found
What Happens During a Skin Exam?
We examine your skin from head to toe — including often-missed areas like the scalp, behind the ears, back, and feet. If anything looks suspicious, we'll explain it clearly and walk through the next steps (which may include monitoring, imaging, or a simple biopsy).
You don't need to memorize what every mole looks like. That's our job.
Who Should Get an Annual Skin Exam?
We recommend yearly skin checks for:
- Everyone over age 30 (especially in sun-exposed states like Indiana)
- People with fair skin, freckles, or a history of sunburns
- Anyone who has used tanning beds
- Those with a family or personal history of skin cancer
- Patients with a large number of moles or spots that change
- Anyone with a prior history of radiation or immune suppression
You don't need to be high-risk to benefit from a quick, expert skin check.
What If Something Is Found?
Most lesions are benign. But if we spot something concerning — like signs of basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, or melanoma — we'll explain it in plain language and act quickly.
We offer:
- Same-day biopsies (when appropriate)
- In-office treatment for early non-melanoma cancers
- Non-surgical options like IG-SRT
- Trusted referrals for surgical care when needed
Don't Let the Quiet Ones Grow Loud
Skin cancer doesn't always announce itself. By the time it hurts, bleeds, or changes color dramatically — it's already had time to grow.
A yearly skin exam isn't optional. It's one of the most important things you can do to protect your health.
No referral is needed. Walk in today. Stay for the care and expertise.
Come for prevention. Come for early detection. Come for the care.
