Restylane

What is Restylane?

Restylane is a collection of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers that can rejuvenate signs of aging and enhance natural features. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in the skin that fades with age. Dermal fillers work by placing a crystal-clear hyaluronic acid gel under the skin to provide volume similar to collagen, a protein that also begins to fade with aging. There are a variety of Restylane formulations available, and each one is specially created to enhance specific areas of the face.

Restylane Candidates

Dermal fillers like Restylane are a non-surgical method for reversing signs of aging and augmenting features like the cheeks or lips. Restylane can effectively treat the following concerns:

  • Nasolabial lines
  • Thin lips
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Hollow cheeks
  • Marionette lines
  • Undereye bags
  • Smoker’s lines

Along with hyaluronic acid, Restylane fillers contain lidocaine. If you have a history of reaction to lidocaine, Restylane should be avoided. During an appointment, our certified dermatology provider can determine whether Restylane is the appropriate treatment for your concerns.

What to Expect During Restylane Treatment

Dermal filler treatments can be administered in as little as 15 minutes. You’ll begin your appointment by discussing your cosmetic goals with our injectors and carefully developing an appropriate treatment plan. Then, your treatment area will be prepared and cleaned. Restylane is placed under the skin using a very fine needle. If discomfort during the injection process is a concern, a topical numbing cream can be supplied. Restylane also contains lidocaine for a more comfortable injection process. Restylane produces immediate results, and you can assess your initial results before leaving.

Restylane Results and Recovery

Minor swelling, redness, and sensitivity are to be expected after dermal filler treatment. You can return to normal daily activities but should avoid exercising and hot environments. Additionally, avoid blood- thinning medications since these can increase the chances of bruising. Make sure to allow for 1-2 weeks for final results to settle in. After this time, you can return for additional product if needed.
The length of your results will depend on your specific Restylane formulation. In general, hyaluronic acid dermal fillers last for 6-12 months.
